what to be when you grow up.
I spent almost half my life pondering what i was going to be when i grew up. I finally realized that i could not predict what was to happen in the future, that if i was to achieve "heaven" in this life I would have to start doing and enjoying the moment the now. Start by doing the best in school right now. don't worry about what you will be, concentrate on what you can be now. finish high school take basic courses first two years of collage and the events that transpire will inspire your path. take a deep breath and trust.

Effected by teachers criticism. This is a great life lesson, many budding artist take criticism to heart, and become wilted buds. Great art is your unique expression from the depths of your soul. artistic skills and what others think are important and helpful but they are only tools you use on your path of life. you can not judge your ultimate life expression by what someone else says or doesn't say.

I have seen the kidz art website and I have read your job postings at craigs list. I am not an art teacher by profession, but I really would love to teach kids art classes. I am a graduate of Multimedia Arts in the Philippines, and I would really love to share my talent with them. I really hope that I could fullfill my dreams as an art teacher and that I could share this dream hopefully to my future students. :)

I have a 4-1/2 year old son, Michael, who is physically big for his age, almost the average size of a 7 yr. old, but somewhat small in emotional growth. He is, however, extremely talented in art and design. I say this with all honesty, having a BFA in Graphic Design, and my husband a talented caricaturist by nature. My son is enthused when drawing and painting, and taping and pasting, he uses multiple mediums to complete his project, and I am always a bit stunned at what he comes up with. He has a great sense of symmetry, color, and inventiveness for his age.

I feel like I want to let him expand on this talent as best as possible. Both my husband and I were always subdued in our efforts to excel in art. It was not the favorable “Profession” anticipated by our parents. But to be able to excel in art and make a life within it, seems like a fine way to go. I would like my son to have that opportunity.

Can you offer any suggestions as to how to, or where to go about finding good instruction for his age??? We live in Coral Springs, Florida, and plan on moving within the year, maybe…. To Lynchburg Virginia.

Thank You for any advice you may provide.

Dear Donna
I'm not sure I would rush formal training. Try to spend some quality no pressure time viewing art, visiting art galleries, outdoor shows, picture art books,etc.. make sure he has plenty of age appropriate art supplies. you and your husband could draw also. it reinforces that the act of creating is worthwhile. again no pressure is necessary. refrigerator and walls are for kids art also.
Let him decide what to draw subject matter and artist techniques a subordinate roll to the act of expression. art may well be Michaels' means of expression. good luck, Marvin
